Surface treatment that does the job

Every application requires a suitable surface treatment for the thermoplastic pipe system to do its job properly. The right surface coating for the right task also keeps the investment at the right level.

Alvenius FlowMax® pipes can be supplied with a range of different surface coatings that can for example reduce flow resistance, protect against corrosion or make the pipe easier to handle.
We can also supply entirely untreated – or painted – pipes for indoor environments.

CORROFLO™ (thermoplastic coating)

FlowMax® CORROFLO™pipes have unbeatable low flow resistance, and thus contribute to low energy consumption in the piping system.

FlowMax® CORROFLO™-coated pipes are also ideal in environments where for example acidic water is a problem. 

Moreover, the CORROFLO™ coating minimises the risk for build-up of deposits on the inside of the pipe.

  • CORROFLO™ coating – unique properties CORROFLO™ coated pipes are ideal in environments where for example acidic water and aggressive chemicals are a problem. Tests have shown that CORROFLO™-coated pipes meet the requirements of the marine environment’s most demanding corrosivity classification C5-M.
    The surface treatment also minimises the build-up of deposits on the inside of the pipe.
    Independent tests show that CORROFLO™-coated pipes have an expected life of at least 50 years – even in aggressive environments.

  • As strong as steel. As resistant to corrosion as plastic. Alvenius CORROFLO™-treated steel pipe systems are coated inside and out with a specially adapted thermoplastic - “Performance polymer alloy”(CORROFLO™). The system combines the strength of steel with the superior corrosion resistance of plastic.
    CORROFLO™ pipes are a cost effective choice in applications where, historically, stainless steel was considered to be the only alternative.

    CORROFLO™ pipes are ideal in industries such as chemical engineering, pulp and paper, hydroelectric power, offshore, water treatment and mining. In these very corrosive environments, the CORROFLO™ pipes’ powerful properties of resistance come into their own.

RoughCoating

CORROFLO™ + RocShield®

FlowMax® CORROFLO™ pipes can also be treated
with RocShield® on the outside. 

This coating gives an even more durable outer surface.

HDG - Hot-dip galvanization

A very robust outer coating that is ideal for pipes that are to be frequently disassembled/assembled.
In the event of damage, the zinc coating “heals” itself.

  • Very high durability The deeply penetrating shield makes hot-dip-galvanized pipe more impact resistant and more resistant to weather and wind than pipes that just have a plain surface protection.
    The zinc layer also has the unique property of being able to “heal” itself if the outer surface is damaged.

    In normal environments and with the right thickness of coating, hot-dip galvanization gives perfect protection for 50-100 years. In more aggressive environments the life cycle is 24-50 years. Moreover, hot-dip galvanization has low environmental impact.

    Alvenius products are hot-dip galvanized in accordance with European Standard EN ISO 1461:2009
  • Read more about hot-dip galvanization (HDG) Hot-dip galvanization (HDG) gives deep protection. It is a type of electrochemical galvanization process in which the pipe is coated with a thin layer of zinc through electrolysis, to prevent corrosion.
    The chemical reaction causes the rust preventive layer to bite fast a little way into the steel itself – the coating thus becoming metallically bound to the steel.
