Crossrail is Europe's most extensive civil engineering project and once completed in 2018 this tunnel system will connect 37 stations.
A total of 21 km of tunnel is being built, and Alvenius has supplied 80 km of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel pipe, as well as couplings, valves and connectors, to provide tunnel boring machines with compressed air and water.
The combination of maximum operating reliability, simple installation, a broad product range and good availability resulted in a three-year partnership between Alvenius and the tunnel consortium.

Pipe systems for water and air. English Channel.

The Channel Tunnel between Great Britain and France is one of the longest and most extensive tunnel systems in the world. 
The construction is comprised of three parallel tunnels, each 52 km in length.

Alvenius supplied more than 20,000 metres of pipe in the size ø102x2mm and 45,000 metres of pipe in the size ø152x2 mm, as well as couplings and accessories. All pipes and pipe components were hot-dip galvanized (HDG) for maximum corrosion protection.
With extremely fast and easy assembly and disassembly, pipes and couplings could easily be moved and reused throughout the construction phase.
The combination of maximum operating reliability, simple installation, a broad product range and good availability resulted in a three-year partnership between Alvenius and the tunnel consortium, as well as contracts for several other global tunnel projects.
